BWB Reno, Nevada (USA)

BWB Reno formed in January 2010 and has grown to +700 members in our Facebook group. We promote opportunities to engage those needing support in Reno, and collaborate with other groups throughout our area.

Communities we Support:
– Refugee resettlement, for people on the run from war

-Foster youth and young adults who have aged out of social support in northern Nevada

What We Do:
-Coordinate volunteers and donations

– Share information and opportunities to engage

– Stewarded cultural and outdoor experiences when needs emerge

We have helped refugees from diverse global and ethnic communities through the Northern Nevada International Center. We have also donated both materially and through volunteerism to Washoe CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children) and Eddy House (homeless young adults in transition).

Our activity was sharply curtailed by the pandemic but we have continued to donate furniture and household supplies, clothing and personal care things, educational, arts and athletic equipment and materials, toys, and of great importance, our time. We also feed Burning Man affiliated groups when it appears it would help (art installation build teams, Man Crew, etc.).

Reno Burners are incredibly generous and responsive to calls for support. We will always step up for those displaced from their homes whether short or long term and no matter the cause. And we like to feed people.

Nathan, Mishka, and Chaos (Left to Right) helped pull 10 miles of fence in the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge in Nevada. Their efforts will clear the way for Bighorn sheep, Pronghorn antelope, and other animals to literally roam free across the land. On June 20, volunteers of Burners Without Borders joined over 60 other volunteers…
