Anyone can create a BWB project. We try to bring as much creativity and collaboration to our projects as possible. If you see a need in your community — whether related to disaster response, resilience, sustainability, or civic creativity — BWB exists to help you turn that idea into action.
You don’t need to have everything figured out. Many projects begin as small experiments and grow through collaboration, learning, and shared effort.
Steps to creating a project:
- Check out our Create a Project Page
- Consider reading our Kickstarting Local Projects Tool-kit
- Fill out our Project Proposal Form

Around the world, regional-based Chapters & Working Groups gather to build relationships. These groups often serve as entry points for deeper involvement.
Joining a local group is a great way to:
- Meet people in your area who care about similar issues
- Find collaborators for new ideas
Explore existing BWB and Regional community groups to see what’s active near you.
‘Working Groups‘ are more informal or topic-based communities, where ‘Chapters‘ are more formalized and location-based.

No Local Group Near You? That’s okay. This might be an opportunity!
Many BWB initiatives begin as small communities of practice: a few people coming together regularly around shared interests, questions, or challenges. This could include friends, neighbors, artists, organizers, or collaborators — in person or online.
A community of practice doesn’t need to be formal to be meaningful. What matters is consistency, curiosity, and care.
By gathering people around shared values and local needs, you’re already participating in the BWB Network — and you may be laying the groundwork for something larger over time.
