BWB GA: Lost-N-Found
Lost and Found Youth is the only Atlanta based non-profit whose mission is to take homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth off the streets and transition them into more permanent housing situations. The BWB grant will support the construction materials and initial supplies for a container garden at their safe house. The container garden will help teach the youth about plants, gardening, and basic care. The lasting impact will be to teach the youth about responsibility and healthy food choices. This grant program funded repair and paint for the safe house’s resident bedrooms, hallways, and even a stairway. BWB GA volunteers worked side-by-side with the youth residents, embracing the spirit of communal effort and radical self-reliance residents could take ownership and pride from the project. Needless to say, the residents were also excited to be working with those “hippies from the desert.”
