Burners Responding To Hurricane Otis in Acapulco, Mexico
Dear Burners Without Borders Team,
We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request and an opportunity to make a life-changing impact on the community of Acapulco, Mexico, which is currently grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis following Hurricane Otis.
On October 27, 2023, Hurricane Otis struck the resort city of Acapulco in Mexico, leaving a trail of destruction. This Pacific hurricane rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane in just 12 hours, taking authorities and scientists by surprise. It made landfall with fierce winds of 270 kilometers (165 miles) per hour, causing extensive damage.
The hurricane caused at least 27 deaths and led to major destruction, severely impacting the region. The situation in Acapulco is dire. Homes have been destroyed, roads are impassable, and thousands of people are cut off from essential supplies. This is where we come in.
Our emergency relief project #RestoreAcapulco is designed to provide critical assistance, including food, clean water, shelter, and medical supplies to those in need. We aim to restore some sense of normalcy to the lives of the affected people and help them rebuild their community.
We are currently working in coordination with the Government and in situ NGO´s.
We are seeking various forms of support:
1. **Financial Assistance:** Donations to ensure that our project has the necessary resources to provide immediate relief.
