Burners Without Borders (BWB) may not have a camp in Black Rock City this year, but there are still plenty of ways to find us, get involved, and put our shared principles into practice.

BWB is a year-round community and platform for people who want to take the inspiration, creativity, and collaborative spirit of Black Rock City back into their communities. This year on playa, we’re focusing less on having a physical home and more on showing up together—sharing stories, volunteering side by side, and creating spaces for conversation and connection.

Get Your Hands Dirty: Compost With Us

Thursday | 3:00–6:00 PM | GYST, 7 & A

Come volunteer alongside BWB and the Black Rock Compost crew at GYST (Get Your Shit Together).

We love this project because it makes the idea of a circular system tangible: food scraps collected in Black Rock City can become compost that helps grow food at Fly Ranch, bringing resources that might otherwise be considered waste back into the system.

Come lend a hand, learn about composting on playa, meet other BWB community members, and help demonstrate what regenerative participation can look like in practice. You might just go back to your camp with some fresh food grown at Fly Ranch with last years compost.

Come spend part of your Friday with BWB at Center Camp. We’ll be sharing stories and projects from across the BWB network and highlighting people who are putting Burner culture into action in their communities.

Expect short talks, community voices, ideas worth sharing, and opportunities to learn how people are responding, experimenting, and building around the world.

Afterward, join us at the Bring Your Own Cup Café for a facilitated conversation and civic discourse exploring flourishing futures. What does it look like to build communities where more people—and the places we live—can thrive? Come bring your perspective to the conversation.

Take It Home

BWB has always been about what happens beyond Black Rock City.

You don’t need a BWB camp—or even an established BWB Chapter—to get involved. You can join an existing project, connect with a local Chapter, volunteer, start something in your own community, or simply find a few people who care about the same thing you do and begin there.

Find us on playa. Share what you’re working on. Meet someone new. Volunteer alongside us.

And when you leave Black Rock City, take the inspiration home with you and put it into action.
